The Genisis of The SimpleScore™

My love of racket sports stems back to my memories as a child. At 8 years old I would ride my bike to my elementary school and hit the ball against the brick wall over and over till I would eventually lose it on the three-story high flat roof. I have never lost my love of smashing that ball to this day.

In my thirties, I can remember constantly forgetting the score when I would play tennis and I said I needed to come up with a good scorekeeper. Fast forward twenty years, I have an aggressive type of cancer. No modern treatment options would work; chemo, even a stem cell transplant, had failed, which is usually the end for most folks. I entered into a clinical trial for a new cancer treatment and it not only saved me but worked so well the drug was FDA approved for others with the same type of cancer based on the clinical trial.

Sadly, then I lost my employment, my lifelong career gone at 56. I was determined to fall forward and have always wanted to be an inventor. I set my sights on that idea years ago I had to develop a scorekeeper. My thoughts went back to the Timex watch commercials. Takes a licking and keeps ticking. I thought why not have a Casio watch type of interface controlled by 2 buttons right on the racket or paddle. The SimpleScore™ was born. It has been an up and down topsy turvy road to get here but I have finally gotten it made. I am hoping the pickleball community will embrace my idea and invention.
